Some cool yet common tricks to speed up your android phone.

Well in today’s time the smartphones are becoming more and more advanced in terms of hardware. However, with passage of time your new shiny smartphone starts feeling laggy. The performance of the phone quite feels slow and you sometimes feel disgusted. Even I used to get disgusted by the amount of lag and frame drops earlier when I was unaware about these settings. Like many people, I used to think that rooting my smartphone is the best solution to end all of this pain. However, there are certain tweaks which you can do in your smartphone which can increase your performance and make you get the same experience as you had when you first purchased your smartphone all without having the fear of losing your device while rooting.

  1. Debloat/ disable bloatware from your smartphone.

Long story short, Bloatware is certain set of applications which are pre installed in your device and are very very annoying. They are not only useless in many aspects but also take up storage in you device and even keep running in the background which makes the matters even worse.

Well you can uninstall some of the bloatware while others can be disabled in the settings. However in some devices these bloatware even run back in background and would still remain in your device storage and in many cases the smartphone brand doesn't even give the option to disable these apps which is a pretty annoying thing. Now completely removing the bloatware out of your phone requires you to have root access which isn’t a viable option for you to go for right now. So you can use your pc to run ADB commands to uninstall these kinds of bloatware without actually rooting your device. The process is time taking but in the end your phone would actually perform better. But you should be careful while doing so because in case if you install some important system apps like your device camera or caller then the only way to fix it is a factory reset after which you can loose your data. So if you don’t want to loose your data or end up doing something to your phone I recommend using the tool known as Universal Android Debloat gui there you can easily look at those features or bloatware which you can uninstall completely and in case you install some important application or feature you want back you have the option to restore it back with just a click.

2. Disable HW overlays/force GPU rendering.

The Settings app on Android includes a screen called Developer options that lets you configure system behaviors that help you profile and debug your app performance. For example, you can enable debugging over USB, capture a bug report, enable visual feedback for taps, flash window surfaces when they update, use the GPU for 2D graphics rendering, and more.

Well if your phone starts lagging while using an intensive application or a game then you can enable either of the two options as they are more or less a same but if you get the option of force GPU rendering then go for it as it will use your phone’s GPU for rendering 2d elements which means getting faster animations as well as smoother performance.

However, if your phone doesn’t have any force gpu rendering then you can use disable hw overlays instead of this option. The performance of the phone will definitely improve while using the smartphone.

3. Wiping the cache of the apps

Well while using a smartphone over the time it accumulates cache in the app. The cache not only takes up the space but also can cause some of the other issues. So it is recommended that we remove the cache from the apps. There are various ways to remove the cache

  1. )manually in the settings app — apps — select the app — and then click on storage — clear cache.

2.) Using cache removing applications like SD maid or ccleaner which can remove all of the cache by giving all the permissions.

3.) Wiping the cache partition by going in the recovery mode.

Through, this process you can remove the apps cache and can experience a smooth performance from your device.

4. Avoid installing heavy themes or live wallpapers.

Like I’m not saying to completely do away with it but just don’t excessively use it. 🤷 Many people use live wallpapers and sorts of customization apps or widgets in order to make their experience more personal which is nowhere wrong at all, but I will suggest to use light and minimalistic themes and wallpapers if you love customizations. In case if you change to some other theme then delete the preexisting one so that you save some space and you don’t end up piling them.

5. Restart your phone sometimes.

Well it might sound a bit absurd to some but restarting your phone actually helps, which I personally neglected for quite sometime. Restarting your device actually clears your ram and kills all the existing running apps. So you start from a clean and fresh slate. If you are too lazy to even press a button of your smartphone for some seconds for getting that option of power off menu, then you can go to your settings and search for the option of auto restart and set the time and the days you want to restart your device. Try to set it at least two days a week for best results.

6. Restrict your background apps to some extent.

Well you get the option in your android’s developer options to restrict the number of apps which run in your background, All you have to do is to go to your developer options and go to the option of Background process limit and select the amount of processes which can run in the background according to your preference depending on the specs of your device. In my opinion setting the background processes in between 2 and 3 is optimal since it keeps the thing in balance.

Well these are some of the tips which can help you fix lag in your smartphone. There are other methods as well which can help in reducing the lags which come. If you have some more ways then you can share them in the comments. Peace.
